Woooo boy, it's been a while since I've put anything up here! It's been pretty crazy, between endless papers and then travelling for two full days... but no excuses! I'll have something to show soon!
Either way, I'm on my spring break now, and I've finally settled into the routine! It took a while, since I had to take the train all day, and then fly all day, and then make up on sleep and get into a new routine at my family's house. But now I'm back and swinging! ...Aaaaaand I have tons of schoolwork.
Otherwise, this has been a welcome chance to catch my breath. College has been demanding, and during the week I have no time except to do my work until the wee hours of the morning. Restoring my sleep, taking some time for myself, and spending time with my family has really been awesome.
And I'm getting back into reading for pleasure! I picked up Robin Hobb's Assassin's Apprentice last year, and for a while I was just hooked! But once the last book came around, some things hit a little close to home and it was really tearing up my spirits, so I had to put it down for a while. But now that I've gotten some distance, I decided to stick my toes back into the water, and after a bit, I just jumped right in! What a series! I highly recommend it to any fan of fantasy. The way it deals with magic is very subtle so as to make it believable, and the focus is really on the world and character development. It's a book that doesn't build its plot traditionally; it immerses the reader by giving anecdotes, all related to the plot, but really with the intention of phasing in an understanding of the world and characters... and with time, you don't even realize the stakes and challenges being set up, but those strings are pulled, and suddenly there are moments more suspenseful than almost anything I've ever read! It's just brilliant!
So reading has captured me again, and I couldn't be happier! Again, with all the free time I have to read, I do intend to draw something soon as well. My apologies for the wait!
